British aid workers ‘refuse to let Russians win’ in liberated Ukraine areas | Life on the frontline

The Telegraph published this video item, entitled “British aid workers ‘refuse to let Russians win’ in liberated Ukraine areas | Life on the frontline” – below is their description.

Having barely survived a Russian rocket attack, Jack Ross and his team of British volunteer aid workers bravely refused to let targeted Russian shelling deter them from their mission to distribute food to civilians in recently liberated Kherson villages.

Jack said his contacts in intelligence told him the Russians were deliberately targeting humanitarian aid workers giving out food to ‘starve out’ civilians.

“They’re trying to tell the locals, ‘oh you’re better off under occupation because at least we gave you scraps’.” He said.

“We’re not going to let them win this one.” Said Jack: “We’re going to go back with a load more food and make sure that they don’t go hungry.”

The Vans Without Borders team arrive back in the Kerson village of Mykhailivka, where they had to emergency evacuate from the day before, and started giving out aid but couldn’t stay for long.

Small arms fire was spotted in the distance by the head of the village who thought it could signal the start of a Russian advance of that position.

“We’ve just been told by the head of the village that we need to get out of here.” Said Jack. “We’ve fed as many people as we can and left some food with him.”

“Between breakfast and lunch, they’ve had 13 rockets fired over their village coming from the Russian side. One of the Vans without Borders team, Darren said. Adding: “It’s bad for them but we’re here to help, give them food.”

Jack and his team worked their way across Kherson Oblast all the way to Donetsk oblast, looking in on the major cities of Zaporizhia, Kryvyi Rih and Dnipro as they braved countless dangers as they travelled along bombed-out roads.
