Brian Rose, aka Cobra Kai, mocked for campaign video

RT published this video item, entitled “Brian Rose, aka Cobra Kai, mocked for campaign video” – below is their description.

Brian Rose, a Californian running for mayor of London, has been mocked for a campaign video that looks like an outtake from ‘Cobra Kai’.

The video, which clocks in at over eight minutes, shows controversial YouTuber Rose grunting as he shadow boxes the camera before attacking a punchbag in what appears to be a home ‘dojo’ – complete with branded gong.

He doesn’t utter a word until 20 seconds from the end, when he simply says, ‘39 days. Let’s go,’ in reference to the mayoral election on May 6.

He tweeted the video on Monday, presumably the next day, with the message ‘38 Days To Go….WAR!!!’.

Despite living in London for years, Rose appears to have not met any British people. While the hyper-masculinity and shameless self-confidence might work on his fellow Americans, it’s an open goal for sceptical Brits to take the piss.

Some on Twitter likened him to Rex Kwon Do from ‘Napoleon Dynamite’ and YouTube legend Star Wars Kid, while others employed classic dad jokes, and the more technically minded criticised his form and technique.

Rose may have no chance of unseating the incumbent mayor Sadiq Khan (he’s polling at less than one percent), but at least he’s given locked-down Londoners the chance to indulge in their favorite pastime.

We’ve added our own affectionate take on the video. We look forward to your comments…
