The Telegraph published this video item, entitled “Brexit talks continue beyond deadline, Boris Johnson and Ursula von der Leyen confirm” – below is their description.
Boris Johnson and Ursula von der Leyen have agreed that Brexit talks should roll over, stretching beyond the deadline agreed earlier this week.
The Prime Minister and European President spoke on the phone this morning, after talks between the negotiating teams came to no conclusion yet again.
A joint statement from Mr Johnson and Ms von der Leyen said despite the “exhaustion” and missed deadlines, it was “responsible to go the extra mile”.
“We had a useful phone call this morning. We discussed the major unresolved topics,” the statement said. “Our negotiating teams have been working day and night over recent days.
“And despite the exhaustion after almost a year of negotiations, despite the fact that deadlines have been missed over and over we think it is responsible at this point to go the extra mile.
“We have accordingly mandated our negotiators to continue the talks and to see whether an agreement can even at this late stage be reached.”
