Sky News published this video item, entitled “BREAKING: World leaders reach significant climate deal at COP26” – below is their description.
World leaders have reached the most significant climate change pact since the landmark Paris Agreement, following a turbulent two weeks of fraught negotiations in Glasgow.
With a stroke of the gavel, COP26 President Alok Sharma brought the talks to a close after almost 200 nations finally reached consensus on how to navigate the climate crisis.
But there was huge disappointment over the watering down of the agreement’s language on the phasing out of coal.
An emotional Alok Sharma said he was “deeply sorry” for the way the conference unfolded.
Holding back tears, the COP president added: “I apologise for the way this process has unfolded, I am deeply sorry.
“I understand the deep disappointment but it is also vital that we protect this package.”
