BREAKING: Sir Ed Davey named new Lib Dem leader

Sir Ed Davey said the Liberal Democrats needed to ‘wake up and smell the coffee’ as he becomes their fifth leader in five years.

Former leader Jo Swinson lost her East Dunbartonshire seat in 2019 after 12 years of being an MP.

He beat his colleague Layla Moran with 42,756 votes compared to 24,564.
