BREAKING NEWS: Boris Johnson today vowed he will not quit over Partygate in a bear-pit PMQS minutes after a Tory MP dramatically defected to Labour.

The premier said simply ‘no’ when challenged on whether he was going to resign rather than offer ‘absurd’ excuses for the scandal. And he urged people to ‘wait for the outcome’ of the inquiry by senior civil servant Sue Gray.

The defiant stance came as Westminster reeled from Christian Wakeford’s announcement that he was leaving for Labour – in the middle of a coup attempt.
