BREAKING: Man arrested after car hits pedestrians ‘killing several’

Emergency services have confirmed ‘several people’ including a child have died after a car was driven into crowds in the city of Trier, south west Germany.

Trier Mayor Wolfram Leibe told a news conference: “We have a driver who ran amok in the city. We have two dead that we are certain of and up to 15 injured, some of them with the most severe injuries.”

Officials said they have not established the motive behind the attack but arrested the driver.
