BREAKING: It’s officially the hottest August day in 17 years

The Met Office says temperatures have reached 36.4C in Heathrow and Kew Gardens on Friday, making it the hottest August day since 2003.

Temperatures could get higher than last Friday, which was the third-hottest day on record.
