In a social media video, Prime Minister Boris Johnson told followers that despite a U-turn about a trial where contacts tested daily to allow normal work to continue which was suggested ‘briefly’ before both he and Rishi Sunak then decided to isolate at their homes to show compliance with the rules.

He said that ‘it was far more important everyone sticks to the same rules’, as opposition MP’s reacted to what was briefed by No.10.

He confirmed he had been ‘pinged’ after a meeting with Health Secretary Sajid Javid and will observe the rules until July 26th.
