BREAKING: Bernie Sanders ends US presidential campaign

Senator Bernie Sanders has dropped out of the Democratic race for the US presidency.

Former Vice President Joseph Biden is now the presumptive nominee and will face off against Donald Trump in the general election.

Sanders thanked his supporters in a speech streamed online.

“Nothing is impossible until it’s done,” he said, quoting Nelson Mandela.
