Sky News published this video item, entitled “BREAKING: All 16 and 17-year-olds to be offered COVID-19 jabs” – below is their description.
The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has recommended that all 16 and 17-year-olds be given a first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine against COVID-19.
The JCVI says it is confident that young people will be given around 80% protection against hospitalisation after they are given the first dose.
It is hoped vaccinating younger people will help stem any possible autumn surge of COVID-19.
Professor Wei Shen Lim, the chair of the JCVI, explained their reasoning behind the decision.
