Sky News Australia published this video item, entitled “Bouncers must not be allowed to ‘perpetrate violence’ they’re hired to prevent” – below is their description.
Bouncers and security guards have a very difficult job but we have to make sure they don’t perpetuate the violence they are hired to prevent, says Sky News host Chris Kenny. Shocking footage from a pub in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs showed a bouncer throw a young man to the ground while held in a headlock and unconscious. “This young bloke’s clearly unconscious, he takes him out like a bag of spuds. The young bloke apparently had been acting up and was kicked out of the pub earlier; he deserved to be thrown out. But nobody deserves to be treated like that,” Mr Kenny said. “But honestly, this is how people get killed or suffer long term damage. We’ve got to do better than that. “We know they have a tough job and face all sorts of provocation but security guards and bouncers, and the people who employ them, just have to make sure we don’t have this kind of violence perpetrated against people. That’s what they are supposed to prevent.”
