Authorities are expected to provide an update after reports of an active shooter situation at a King Soopers grocery store in Boulder, Colo. on Monday afternoon.
“I heard one loud bang. I thought somebody just dropped something, an employee or something, and then another. And then by the third one, everybody was running,” one witness told CBS Denver.
Police had warned residents to avoid the area. It was not immediately clear how many people had been injured.
Colorado Gov. Jared Polis tweeted he was “closely watching unfolding events at King Soopers in Boulder.”
“My prayers are with our fellow Coloradans in this time of sadness and grief as we learn more about the extent of the tragedy,” the tweet read.
