(AP) British Prime Minister Boris Johnson visited a vaccine centre in West Yorkshire on Monday and said he was confident that all vaccines would prove effective against different variants of the coronavirus.

During his tour of the centre at Batley, where he spoke to staff and people waiting to receive the jab against Covid-19, Johnson said he was confident of the U.K.’s supplies of the vaccines, but stressed that developing the vaccines was an international effort.

He also wished Captain Sir Tom Moore, the 100-year-old World War II veteran who captivated the British public in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic with his fundraising efforts, a speedy recovery.

Moore, who has been hospitalised with COVID-19, became an emblem of hope in the early weeks of the pandemic in April when he walked 100 laps around his garden in England for the National Health Service to coincide with his 100th birthday.

Instead of the 1,000 pounds (1,370 US dollars ) aspiration, he raised around 33 million pounds (45 million US dollars).
