Before the hotel quarantine crisis in Victoria, the Ruby Princess cruise ship debacle was undoubtedly the biggest scandal in Australia’s handling of coronavirus – and the single biggest source of cases.
The Federal Government and Border Force say New South Wales Health was responsible for letting almost three thousand people leave the ship, including hundreds carrying COVID-19.
Now 7.30 can reveal an astonishing new twist. A Border Force officer made a critical mistake, confusing tests for the common flu with tests for COVID-19, and the error wasn’t picked up until the next day.
