Global News published this video item, entitled “Booster shot protecting against COVID-19 variants could be ready by year’s end: Moderna” – below is their description.
Moderna Inc.’s Chief Medical Officer Tal Zaks said on Wednesday the company should be able to provide a booster shot for protection against variants of the coronavirus by the end of this year.
Speaking to the Economic Club of New York, Zaks stated he expects the booster shots the company is testing to show a higher level of protection against variants of the virus.
When asked if Moderna was up to the challenge posed by U.S. President Joe Biden, who said on Tuesday that every adult in America will be offered a COVID-19 vaccine by April 19, Zaks said “absolutely.”
Biden directed states to widen vaccine eligibility to people 18 or older by April 19, two weeks earlier than the May 1 deadline he announced previously. No COVID-19 vaccine is authorized yet for children under 16, although testing is underway.
