Al Jazeera English published this video item, entitled “Bolsonaro again refuses lockdown as Brazil COVID crisis drags on” – below is their description.
Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro says there will be no national lockdown despite surging coronavirus cases responsible for 3,829 deaths on Wednesday.
Bolsonaro has ignored calls from medical experts who warn that deaths from COVID-19 will further climb without movement restrictions and strain its overtaxed healthcare system.
Only 8 percent of Brazil’s population has so far been inoculated against the virus.
Al Jazeera’s Monica Yanakiew reports from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
