Two students were violently dragged out of a car and tasered by Atlanta police while caught in traffic during protests.
Dramatic police body-cam footage shows how a group of officers surrounded the students’ stationary vehicle. They begin shouting orders, then smashing the driver’s side window, and deploying stun guns before pulling Taniyah Pilgrim and Messiah Young out from the sedan. The couple’s confusion is visible and they can be heard asking the officers what is going on.
– Pilgrim later said she feared the officers would kill them – they were merely on their way to get some food.
– Young was tasered, suffered a fractured arm and required 20 stitches.
– Two of the officers involved have been fired and three others are under investigation.
– Messiah Young, 22, is studying business management and Taniyah Pilgrim, 20 is a psychology major.
