Black teenagers are scuba diving in Florida to help find sunken slave ships

Just off the Florida coast student divers are searching for a slave ship that crashed in 1827 called The Guerrero. They’re working with a nonprofit called Youth Diving With a Purpose to help the National Park Service survey shipwrecks in Biscayne National Park Tristan Cannon, an 18 year old instructor in training, shows Washington Post journalist Nicole Ellis how to survey a shipwreck site and shares how it feels to research slave ships as a descendant of enslaved Americans.
