Black man’s wrongful arrest in Montreal sparks calls for independent inquiry

Global News published this video item, entitled “Black man’s wrongful arrest in Montreal sparks calls for independent inquiry” – below is their description.

Montreal, Que. Mayor Valerie Plante is calling for an independent investigation into the arrest of a Black man, Mamadi Fara Camara, who was cleared of wrongdoing in the attempted murder of a police officer.

Camara was arrested Jan. 28, after a police officer was allegedly disarmed and attacked following a traffic stop. He spent almost a week in detention when prosecutors on Feb. 3 dropped all charges after they said evidence had surfaced absolving him.

Amanda Jelowicki reports on the calls for the inquiry amid allegations of racial profiling.
