Protesters gathered in London’s Parliament Square on Saturday to show solidarity with those demonstrating in the U.S. over the death of George Floyd in Minnesota last week.
The event, billed as an anti-racism demonstration, has been condemned by the U.K. government, who urged the public not to attend due to ongoing coronavirus lockdown restrictions.
Protesters, angry over the death of Floyd in Minneapolis on Monday 25 May, have been demonstrating in cities around the world for days.
Floyd, who was black, died after a white police officer pressed his knee on his neck for several minutes even after he stopped moving and pleading for air.
