U.S. Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden responded to questions on Wednesday of whether the officer involved in the shooting of Jacob Blake and the officers involved in Breonna Taylor’s shooting death should be charged, Biden said they need to “let justice be done.” He said he believes there’s a “minimum need to be charged,” and added the same applies to the person who allegedly shot a man, who was reportedly a supporter of President Donald Trump, saying it should be investigated on what needs to be done. He added there was an “overwhelming” request for him to visit Kenosha, which he will be doing on Thursday. Biden also said that those who engage in violent acts, whether burning property or looting, “in the name of protesting is wrong.” He said he’d bring people to the White House, including a police commission, to determine how they address the issues facing the country. The former vice-president also responded to questions on how far he would “push” his campaign schedule during the COVID-19 pandemic to get his message out, saying that a president “must set an example” of ensuring safety. Biden added that he would put pressure on governors, mayors, local officials and people in business to ensure people wear masks and maintain social distancing. He also joked about the upcoming presidential debates against Trump, saying he had been preparing by listening to what the president has said and “all the lies he’s told,” and that he’d like to see a scroller along the bottom of the screen to instantly fact check both of the candidates.
