US president speaks about withdrawal of forces after the last US troops left Afghanistan, ending the 20-year war.

US President Joe Biden in his first televised speech after the US pullout in Afghanistan said the choice was either to withdraw from the country or escalate the conflict.

“I was not going to extend this forever war, and I was not extending a forever exit,” Biden said.
