Actor Benedict Cumberbatch spoke with Global News’ Chris Jancelewicz about his new film “The Courier,” in which he plays salesman recruited by Britain’s spy agency MI6.

Cumberbatch said he hopes the film which, he says, is about a man doing an extraordinary thing in service of his friend and his country, will resonate as countries around the world continue to struggle to emerge from the coronavirus pandemic.

The actor said that while the role of Greville Wynne is “far removed from some of the more extraordinary characters” he has played; he was attracted to Wynne’s story because he was a “normal man being thrown into an extraordinary situation.”
