Protests have continued in the Belarus capital of Minsk for the ninth week since August 9, 2020. The demonstrations against President Alexander Lukashenkoanti began with anger about recent election results which declared a landslide win for the leader who has been in power since 1994. Police deployed the water cannon, tear gas and stun grenades to disperse opposition protesters during protests on Sunday, October 11, when about 150 people, including 20 journalists were detained.
