Beirut explosion witness describes blast like a ‘volcano’

A witness recounted the moment he saw a massive explosion which rocked downtown Beirut, saying Tuesday’s blast was “like a volcano.”

The explosion flattened much of the Lebanese capital’s port, damaged buildings and blew out windows and doors as a giant mushroom cloud rose above the city.

Speaking to British broadcaster Sky News, Hadi Nasrallah said the blast was like no other he had “experienced” in his life.

Nasrallah, who was traveling in a taxi when the explosion occurred, described the moment he saw a flash before “pink and white” smoke rose around him
