Authorities are expected to provide an update on the Christie Mountain fire in British Columbia on Friday, which has proven to be difficult for the B.C. Wildfire Service and local fire departments to bring under control.
The fire in the South Okanagan region has grown to about 2,000 hectares in size as of Friday morning, and is currently the second-largest wildfire burning in the province.
Evacuation alerts remain in place for 3,669 properties.
The blaze is burning along difficult, rocky sloped terrain making it difficult for graound crews, according to the B.C. Wildfire Service.
