B.C. Supreme Court acquitted Samandeep Singh Gill from charges of second-degree murder and attempted murder in connection to a shooting involving a newlywed Surrey couple a decade ago.
Gill is now a free man after spending three years in jail awaiting trial. The judge ruled that investigators with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) had disregarded Canadian law on the handling of key pieces of evidence, despite legal advice.
Jordan Armstrong talks to Gill’s attorney, who says he’s never seen anything like this during his 20 years as a lawyer.
