Battle for Mosul: The final frontline – BBC News

As the battle for the Iraqi city of Mosul enters it’s final stages, the fighters of the so-called Islamic State are said to be preparing for a last stand around the historic Al-Nuri Mosque. It follows a major push by the Iraqi Army and Federal Police over the weekend – aimed at driving IS out of Iraq’s second city. BBC Persian’s Nafiseh Kohnavard and cameraman Kermaj Hoshyar were given access to the front lines, where up to 200,000 civilians are still thought to be trapped.
