A court ruling Wednesday rejecting Wisconsin’s stay-at-home order threw communities into chaos as some bars opened immediately and were packed with customers, while other local leaders moved quickly to keep strict restrictions in place amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The Iron Hog Saloon in Port Washington opened its doors at 3 p.m. Owner Chad Arndt said his nine employees had not been paid in months.
Customers inside the bar Wednesday did not wear masks. Arndt said he has enhanced cleaning protocols, but understands if customers do not want to come back, right away.
“If they don’t feel that it’s good to come out yet, more to them. But I hope they respect my feelings on, I would like to come out and I would like to start getting the economy going again,” Arndt said.
