Bangladesh has seen an alarming rise in Islamist terrorism in the last two years. Groups affiliated with al Qaeda have murdered so-called “atheist bloggers”, publishers and LGBT activists. In addition, the Islamic State group has carried out a string of murders of foreigners and religious minorities. The most high-profile was an attack on a bakery in the capital in July that left 21 people dead. Our correspondents report on what the government is doing to try to stop the violence.
