The latest data from the ABC’s Australia Talks survey shows we are not very for giving of politicians who transgress. 94% of Australians surveyed agree that politicians who lie to the public should resign.
77% say this should be the penalty for pork-barreling, when public funds are used on projects designed to win votes but exactly 50% agree that a politician should resign if they have a relationship with someone who works for them.
But interestingly, 29% agree that an extramarital affair is grounds for quitting or getting sacked.
