Australia is celebrating its gold medallists with a new stamp for every athlete who claims top spot on a podium at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Sally Pearson, who won the women’s 100m hurdles, will soon see her own face in the Aussie postal system when the stamps are released to retail outlets on 13th August 2012. All the stamps have been turned around within 48 hours of the medal wins.

Pearson, 25, clocked an Olympic world record of 12.35 seconds to beat 2008 winner Dawn Harper of the USA by just 0.02 seconds. She will join fellow Antipodean Olympians Anna Meares, Tom Slingsby, Alicia Coutts, Cate Campbell, Brittany Elmslie, Melanie Schlangeron Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen on the front of envelopes and postcards across the continent later this month.
