South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Aung San Suu Kyi makes first court appearance since coup as Myanmar violence continues” – below is their description.
Armed fighters opposed to Myanmar’s military clashed with troops in the states of Shan and Kayah on May 23, 2021, as attacks against the junta intensified in the country’s east. Local estimates show at least 10,000 people have fled their homes in Kayah state after the latest round of violence. Myanmar’s deposed leader Aung San Suu Kyi appeared at a court hearing on May 24, the first time she’s been seen in public since her arrest, following the overthrow of the civilian government nearly four months ago.
