AUKUS alliance: Blinken seeks to calm French fury amid diplomatic row • FRANCE 24 English

FRANCE 24 English published this video item, entitled “AUKUS alliance: Blinken seeks to calm French fury amid diplomatic row • FRANCE 24 English” – below is their description.

#US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday called #France a vital partner in the #IndoPacific, comments that appeared aimed at calming French anger after the United States, #Australia and the UK clinched a deal to supply Australia with submarines. The three countries said on Wednesday they would establish a security partnership for the Indo-Pacific that would help Australia acquire US nuclear-powered submarines and see it scrap a $40 billion French-designed submarine deal. France reacted angrily to the loss of the deal, calling it a “stab in the back.” FRANCE 24’s French Politics Editor Marc Perelman explains.
