Auditor general praises feds’ COVID-19 pandemic response, slams preparedness

Global News published this video item, entitled “Auditor general praises feds’ COVID-19 pandemic response, slams preparedness” – below is their description.

The federal auditor general had some good news and some bad news today about some of the most expensive programs the federal government has put together.

The AG says the government missed chances to flag fraudulent claims for emergency benefits last year, potentially paying money to insolvent companies, and will now have to rely on costly, years-long efforts to recoup the money.

The AG also gave high marks to the government on the rollout of the COVID relief program, though as David Akin reports, she also found out that Canada was not prepared for the pandemic.
