Can you get coronaviruses from eating bats? How did SARS COV2 jump from bats to humans? Would studying bats help prevent the next big pandemic?

Barnaby Lo tries to find the answers to these questions by following a group of “virus hunters” from the Philippines who collect samples from bats from forests like Mount Makiling, an ASEAN heritage park, to look for viruses like COVID-19 that could be deadly to humans.

While bat hunting is a restricted activity in the Philippines, Barnaby meets a community that has been hunting and eating bats for generations. Has the pandemic changed the way they view their tradition?
