  • Al Jazeera English published this video item, entitled “Assam evictions: Indian gov’t accused of ‘anti-Muslim drive’” – below is their description.

The Indian state of Assam is evicting people it calls “encroachers” from government land.

More than 100 families have lost their homes in the past month, most of them Muslim.

Assam’s Hindu nationalist government says it is protecting people from illegal migrants from neighbouring Bangladesh.

But many of the families say they are Indian citizens and are being targeted for their faith.

Al Jazeera’s Elizabeth Puranam reports from New Delhi, India.
