Arrests & clashes at Berlin’s ‘Silent Demo’

Thousands of people took part in a “Silent Demo” at #Berlin’s #Alexanderplatz on Saturday. During the #protests outside the Alexanderplatz train station, which started peacefully with jazz music and applause, police clashed with protesters, leading to arrests and arguments between police and demonstrators.

Protesters can be seen being detained, sometimes violently, while others shouted at police.

The demonstration, one of several throughout the country, drew hundreds of law enforcement and backup emergency services to monitor the proceedings. The events were organised by affiliates of the “No to Racism” and Black Lives Matter movements.
