The United Kingdom fell silent on Wednesday to mark Armistice Day and commemorate the country’s war dead. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, opposition leader Keir Starmer and Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, attended a service at Westminster Abbey to mark the centenary of the burial of the Unknown Warrior, whose grave represents those who died during war without being identified. A two-minute silence was observed at London’s Cenotaph as well as at ceremonies in Cardiff, Edinburgh and Belfast. Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie, attended another service at the National Arboretum in Staffordshire. Armistice Day marks the end of World War One on Nov. 11, 1918.
