Early counting in the eastern states is indicating a possible mixed result in this election, with the victor still far from clear.
With just under 12 per cent of the vote counted, there has been a swing of around 1.6 per cent to Labor.
But there are mixed swings in different seats.
Chief Election Analyst Antony Green says the result so far does not look like the opinion polls, and it is too early to know the overall result.
He says a hung parliament is a real possibility at this point
“We may be in for a long night to know what’s happened,” he says.
