Sky News Australia published this video item, entitled “An ‘unusual alliance’ has sprung up in SA to fight for jobs and the economy” – below is their description.
An “unusual alliance” has sprung up in South Australia to try and fight back for jobs and the economy against coronavirus lockdowns and measures, says Sky News host Chris Kenny. It comes as Australian Hotels Association SA General Manager Ian Horne and Master Builders SA CEO Ian Markos have teamed up to put pressure on the state government. “The builders and the publicans getting together to put pressure on the state government,” Mr Kenny said. Discussing having just come out the three-day state lockdown, Mr Horne said “we’ve been left with quite severe restrictions”. “What was going to be six days lockdown then a further eight days of heavy restrictions has now ended up being three days of lockdown and eleven days of heavy restrictions,” he said. “We can’t see any justification for not returning us to what the conditions were prior to all of this, the rates of infection are near zero or all traceable.” Mr Markos added, “I know a lot of Ian’s members and I know how hard they’re doing it”. “I thought yesterday I should contact Ian, and maybe we should compare notes … no one should be surprised that people that run an association should represent their members, it’s what we’re there for,” he said.
