    Medigen Vaccine Biologics and United Biomedical have applied to the Taiwanese government for emergency use authorisations for their Covid-19 shots as the island struggles to secure enough jabs for its 23 million people. A vaccination drive is under way in a bid to reach the self-ruled island’s entire elderly population amid a surge of domestic infections, but so far under 5 per cent of the population has been inoculated.
