‘All children in all year groups’ will return to school in September, insists Education Secretary

All children will return to school by September, Education Secretary Gavin Williamson said at today’s press conference.

The approach is a key part of how the UK will “rebuild and recover” after the virus he said, adding that the Government recognises the “important role schools play in keeping children safe”.

Part of the new approach in returning children across the country to school will involve an “ambitious catch-up plan” to ensure that no child is left with gaps in their education because of the pandemic.

A total of £1 billion will be provided, with schools able to tailor any funding they receive to the specific needs of their pupils, Gavin Williamson said.
