Aid workers step in as Delta variant wreaks havoc on Bangladesh city’s health system | ITV News

ITV News published this video item, entitled “Aid workers step in as Delta variant wreaks havoc on Bangladesh city’s health system | ITV News” – below is their description.

In Bangladesh, the Delta strain of Covid – first recorded across the border in India – is having a devastating effect.

Infections in Bangladesh are now at their highest since the start of the pandemic in March last year.

Hospitals in the big cities are overrun but it is in the vast rural areas, where there are no major hospitals, that patients are so at risk.

The worst affected region is in Rajshahi province, along the border with India.

We’ve been able to film with medics as they do their best to reach those who need urgent treatment.
