A 6.1-magnitude earthquake has levelled homes and left at least 1,000 people dead and over 1,500 injured in eastern Afghanistan. The quake struck on June 22, 2022, near the southwestern city of Khost. Officials say the death toll is expected to rise once rescue crews reach remote mountain villages in Paktika province.
