Afghanistan crisis: Biden addresses decision not to extend US military mission | LIVE

Global News published this video item, entitled “Afghanistan crisis: Biden addresses decision not to extend US military mission | LIVE” – below is their description.

U.S. President Joe Biden is expected to address the nation on Tuesday about the decision not to extend its time in Afghanistan and the way forward after 20 years of war in the county.

The last Air Force transport plane departed Kabul one minute before midnight Monday, local time, raising questions about why Biden didn’t continue the airlift for at least another day. He had set Tuesday as the deadline for ending the evacuation and pulling out remaining troops after the Taliban took over the country.

Despite the withdrawal, however, Biden is still facing heavy criticism as in addition to some Afghans who had helped the U.S. and allies during the war, Americans were also left behind.

The Taliban held full control of Kabul’s international airport Tuesday after the last U.S. plane left its runway, marking the end of America’s longest war and leaving behind a now-quiet airfield and Afghans outside it still hoping to flee the insurgents’ rule.
