President Biden is meeting his Afghan counterpart Ashraf Ghani tomorrow in the White House with a promise of millions of dollars of humanitarian aid and billions more in security assistance.

US and NATO troops have pledged to pull out of Afghanistan by September 11th but it’s a precarious time for the country – Taliban fighters have been steadily taking over areas in a series of northern provinces – including the main border crossing into Tajikistan.
