BBC News published this video item, entitled “Afghan baby girl sold for $500 by starving family – BBC News” – below is their description.
Afghanistan is facing the biggest humanitarian crisis in the world, with the country seeing a sharp deterioration in the situation since the Taliban seized power in August.
International funds which propped up the country’s fragile economy have been stopped as the world debates how to deal with the Taliban regime.
The United Nations has issued a stark warning – that millions will die if urgent aid does not reach the country soon. In this video, the BBC’s Yogita Limaye travels to Herat, in the west of the country, and witnesses first-hand the dire situation on the ground.

Surely there is some way of preventing this baby’s terrible fate. I dread to think what it is likely to be. What have things come to where this can be allowed to happen to an innocent child.
Poverty is creating an opportunity for the abuse of children and the sale of a poor baby. Please what can we do, I feel desperate about this poor child .
It is an horrific fate for this baby girl. We helped the rescue dogs. What about the starving people?
so sad. Praying for her poor soul.
Surely something can be done to save this baby fro what I would imagine ins a terrible fate .
To be sold to a stranger, who knows what her destiny may be .
Surely something must be done to stop this , how can we help ?
I found this most distressing that a poor baby could be sold and no one is doing anything about it . What can we do other than pray for her ?
