For more: https://www.cgtn.com/video In eastern China’s Jiaodong area, fishermen celebrate the Fish Lantern Festival every year on the 13th and 14th day of the first lunar month. All fishing boats stop work and dock, while fishermen write the Chinese character “fu” on red paper to pray for good fortune. Red is also believed to bring good luck and safety at sea, as well as resulting in a good catch. This 500-year-old tradition is Jiaodong’s way of saying thank you to the sea.
